This week I made and with ramen you need to have a tea egg or a boiled egg marinaded in soy sauce, that is what I normally do but I really wanted to try out his recipe. Also, how pretty do these look? I am very happy how they came out.
To make these Tea eggs, you will need;
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 tablespoon five spice
1 tablespoon cane sugar
3 tablespoons tea leaves (I used earl grey)
4 cups of water
2 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
- To start I soft boiled my eggs. Then I cracked them so they really can absorb all the flavor and get that nice marbled look.
- Then I combined all the ingredients in a cooking pot and added the soft boiled eggs. Let that cook for 40 minutes and then take it off the heat, covered it with a lid. Let that sit for 3-4 hours.
- When they are done, you simply need to peel them and enjoy.
I definitely will be making these again, but I would let them sit for a bit longer then I did now, I only let them sit for 2 hours, which was definitely not long enough. I really enjoyed these in my ramen and the house smelled amazing while I was making these.
